April Lockhart

April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She started with guitar and piano in 7th grade which sparked curiosity. When April was 12 when she wrote her first single Different. In her 14th year April was a big devotee of her time writing and practicing songs. After that, she started taking excursions to write with her father in NY and LA. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in her book Take My Hand to help her friends who were dealing in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicide. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing following as a lifestyle influencer and works for popular clean beauty company Ilia. Born without a left hand, Lockhart is a major part of her. However, it's not her entire story. The profile of Lockhart on Twitter does not shy away from her status as disabled and does not concentrate on the fact that she is disabled. What is the message? It's important to keep in mind that each of us has many faces, our identities are varied and we're much greater than the bodies we wear. Lockhart in a video message sent from her Nashville home, states I don't want this to define myself. I'm more than my physical self. This doesn't have any effect on my daily life. I conduct everything normally and I've found my own method of adjusting to things. It's a big part of my life, and it's imperative that we talk about it. Lockhart is a great example of how to stay moving forward with self-acceptance. She admits that she has gone through periods of feeling insecure about her body and feeling uncomfortable wearing some clothing types that exposed her arms. It's her choice to wear what she likes, and proudly shares photos of her dressed in her favorite outfits. For her, self-love is always a lengthy process. This is a process, and I'm sure that you never arrive. It's important to have people that know and can relate to you. They will be the ones asking you: What do you fret about?
